The Bible is inerrant in all that it affirms not in all that it assumes.—Michael Horton
Years ago, I was talking to a friend who was a self-proclaimed atheist. We talked about Christianity, Jesus, and the gospel. He decided to read the Bible and talk to more people. After reading the book of Genesis and talking to other Christians, he wanted answers. How does the Bible fit with all he knew about science?
He struggled with how Christianity could be credible if it meant rejecting modern scientific discoveries that seem to have almost universal support from the scientific community.
According to Michael Horton, the problem is never “the Bible vs Science. It is interpretations of the Bible vs interpretations of Science. We are always interpreting. So what we have to do is weigh the interpretations, but the Bible itself is hardly opposed to Science.”
In this clip, Dr. Michael Horton provides a third option that requires a sensitivity to what the Bible says without falling victim to either a blind acceptance of modernity or a defensive retreat from difficult conversations.
