What Does It Mean That, "Christ Became Sin?"
From the Show
What does it mean that "Christ became sin?
The Ram was sacrificed in place of Isaac. Well, Jesus is “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). So, think of it in that perspective, the high priest is laying his hands on the goat and transferring the guilt from the worshipers to the head of the lamb, sending the goat out into the wilderness where he's away from the people, away from the king. He's carrying it, he's running away with this leprosy, he's been chased out of the camp with this disease. He's a diseased animal now running out of the camp, carrying away the burden, the guilt of sins. Well, we’re told Jesus was crucified outside the camp. He went outside the camp to die on the cross. He wasn't crucified in the center of Jerusalem, but He was crucified outside the camp for us, for our iniquities, at Calvary. — Michael Horton

1. Is there a further filling up or pouring out of the Spirit when we are saved?
2. Why do you think it’s so hard for people to understand God’s grace?
3. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says that "Christ became sin." I know this can’t in any way contradict Christ’s sinlessness, but I don’t understand what this could possibly mean?
4. In our Bible study someone shared their testimony about how God saved them from addiction and a life of sin. As he spoke, he kept referring to Romans 6 and how by being obedient to God in not letting sin reign in his body he was able to find freedom. I was wondering if you guys can explain this passage and help show how it can help people who are struggling with besetting sins.
