Core Christianity: Tough Questions Answered

What Are Your Thoughts on Homosexuality and the Church?

aired October 18, 2019

Episode 295 Show Notes

From the Show

Sanctification is a slow process. The dominion of sin is abolished but not the presence of sin. I really do think there is a tendency among some brothers and sisters who say, “if you just read your Bible more and pray more, as the Lord to take this away, and he promises he will.” Well, yeah, he does promise that he’ll take it away like he’ll take away our diseases and our pain and suffering. He’ll take away the presence of sin, when we are raised bodily in a new creation. Right now, we struggle. Our bodies waste away and we also do battle against sin, indwelling sin. Now, a Christian doesn’t come to it and say, “well, this is just the way I am. I’m going to live like this.” But on the other hand, a Christian may suffer with this his or her entire life.

Questions in this Episode

1. It seems like the Bible has a progressive revelation about the afterlife. It seems like there is more in the New Testament. At what point did people of God begin to give a fuller picture of heaven, hell, intermediate state, and resurrection?

2. What are your thoughts on homosexuality?

3. How do you understand Matthew 7:14, “Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and few there be who find it.” Does this mean only a few people will be saved?
