Can We Reach the Next Generation With Hymns?
From the Show
Is the Kingdom of God for today or something in the future?
The kingdom of God when Jesus returns is going to be so much more glorious in its visibility than it is now; and yet, even now, the Kingdom of God is stretching around the world. John the Baptist came proclaiming, "Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand," Matthew 3:2. Jesus said, "But if I drive out demons by the finger of God," which he was doing, of course, "then the Kingdom of God has come upon you," Luke 11:20.
So, even now Jesus says in the following verses, Luke 11:21-22, that he's binding the strongman, Satan, and looting his dungeon, freeing prisoners, and making them subjects and beneficiaries of his own gracious reign…. He's poured out his Spirit so that Satan's prisoners are being released to the ends of the earth. He's inaugurated his kingdom, but when he returns he'll consummate it.
