Episode 11 Show Notes
From the Show
Think of your doubts as temptations. You’re not sinning by being tempted and you’re not sinning by having doubts. What you do with those doubts is another matter. Here’s what believers should do with their doubts- bring them to God. Search the scriptures. Investigate….Christianity does not say to doubters, “ignore your doubts, just take a leap of faith.” Rather, it proclaims the resurrection of Jesus Christ who claimed to be God incarnate and from there it makes the case for the Old and New Testaments as God’s revealed word. So don’t start with the question of the existence of some vague deity, start with the particular God who showed up in our world, the one we have access to in history—Michael Horton
Questions in this Episode
1. If the gospel is about what Jesus has done, and has nothing to do with us, then why should we bother doing good works?
2. Will there be a future mass salvation of the Jewish people?
3. Where do you see Satan most visibly active today?
4. In John 16:25, Jesus said, “I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father.” After saying this his disciples respond surprised because Jesus had finally spoken clearly to them. How should this influence the way we interpret Jesus in other places?
5. Is it a sin to doubt that God exists?
6. In Matthew 5:44 Jesus says that we should love our enemies. Does this include people who don’t repent?
7. How can I get over the fear of death? This especially troubles me when I think about people who have given their life bearing witness to Jesus.
