I have often met people in life who worry that God doesn’t love them, that they aren't really Christians, or that they will experience God’s wrath for all eternity because they haven’t done enough to earn God’s grace. If this is you, there is a simple way to clear up this worry.
1. Realize that God is merciful.
God the Father demonstrated his mercy by sending Jesus Christ (God the Son) to die for the sins of the world.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16–17)
2. Believe that God offers salvation to every who believes.
God offers salvation to sinners. To qualify, you must believe what God says about Jesus and the world’s need.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. (John 5:24)
3. Repent and trust daily.
As you repent and trust in Christ daily, your confidence in God's mercy will grow.
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Phil. 2:12–13)
